This is one of the four 9.5m tall teak-bodied standing Buddhas in Ananda Pahto. This one is unique because both hands hang down outstretched, a position not seen elsewhere in traditional Buddhist sculpture. In his right hand is a nut-like sphere which some construe to be the "pill" of Buddhist teachings which can cure suffering. This is a replacement for the original image which was destroyed by fire in the 1600s.
