This theater was built in neoclassical style in 1786. European stars performed here for the affluent citizens of the town. In the late 1800's St. Pierre was sometimes referred to as "the Paris of the Caribbean." The theater was restored after damages by hurricanes in 1813 and 1891 but not after the destruction of 1902.
