This church in the center of St. Pierre is called "Eglise du Mouillage" This translates as "church of the anchorage" and distinguishes it from the church which used to stand near the fort. Initially established in 1654, it became a cathedral in 1853 and was destroyed in 1902. In 1924 it was rebuilt on the remaining ground floor but the upper portions look different from the previous ones.
