The Romanesque-style Saint Louis Cathedral on Rue Blénac was the largest church in the city. It was designed in 1891 by Pierre-Henri Picq who was inspired by Gustave Eiffel. It took four years to build this with an iron frame to withstand hurricanes. It was the seventh church erected on the site. The first opened in 1657. |
